Memories of our mates

Ray Pearson

K.O.Y.L.I / 2LI

Ray Pearson :-

Terendak Camp - Malaya

Phil Thompson: -

Tinker was definitely in the battalion (bn) when it changed to 2LI (he is in the KOYLI Album produced in Jul 68) although I cannot be sure when he left the army. Tinker was an excellent NCO and I was really lucky that I was put in his section when I joined the bn in Aden. He was professional, patient and had a style of man management that was not to become the norm until many years later. Although I was not really in a position to judge (being so young) it remains a mystery to me why he never attained a higher rank. Perhaps he didnīt shout enough when the right people were listening, but then that was his style. He was a charming man............He was my friend.

Hi Les:

I knew Ray through playing rugby and the Cpl`s club . He was a very good rugby player and a very good member of the Cpl`s club, always willing to help whether it was downing a pint or organising a function a very good K.O.Y.L.I man
