Leo in Malaya 1969
(Jungle Warfare School, Johore Bahru)

A message from Ronnie Gell (Leos
friend)
Leo had many friends...His attitude to life made him
special...always full of laughter and mischief...I once told
him that the world would be a better place if more folk had
his outlook on life...I miss him dearly...
Leo often talked about young 'Mick' and popped up to see him
in Shrewsbury 'where he settled after army' a few times from
Colchester...think Mick had a long illness...I've spoken with
some of his (Mick's) old comrades ..through 1LI/LI sites...he's
well remembered too...
Though I've been up the highlands3 yrs, and even when we lived
near Scarborough 16 yrs.. always had regular chats with Leo on
phone...we used to laugh till we ached.....we spent a lot of
time on web-cam whilst I was up here too.
Leo worked at Colchester Mile End Hospital for many
years...working with the mentally ill .I used to think he was
the main man there...so did the patients too...a good man

Hi everyone. Thank you for putting up some pictures of my Dad. In the one of him in
Aden, he looks the spit of his youngest son (my brother).
You've all been really
kind in taking time out to do this for me. I know Dad would be happy.
He once told me about his promotion/demotion/promotion/demotion incidents.!!??
